Bob Sines

Master Scuba Diver Trainer

Why did you start diving?

I was living in Hawaii and it seemed like a great idea.

How long have you been diving?

I was initially certified in 1978 by NAUI.

Where is your favorite place to dive?

Any place with clear warm water.  My wife and I usually make two trips a year to Curacao, so I guess it would be one of my favorites.

Denise Malovich

Open Water Scuba Instructor

Why did you start diving?

I had actually tried a Discover Scuba in the Bahamas 11 years before I took classes at Treasure Cove. I was terrified of the 3rd Dimension underwater and saw nothing but the Divemasters fins.  I was not going to be left behind or lost.  Eleven years later my husband TOLD me, we (husband and the boys-- a 12 year old and 14 year old) were going to take scuba classes since Nathan was now 12 years old.

How long have you been diving?

I got certified in May of 2001.  I've been teaching since June of 2010.  After taking proper training and learning more about Scuba, I became more comfortable underwater and continued to dive and train, eventually becoming an instructor.

Where is your favorite place to dive?

I'm still looking for my favorite place, there are still a lot of great dive sites I haven't been to yet.  If I had to choose, it would be a night dive at the Fredericksted Pier in St. Croix.

Bob Mazur

Master Scuba Diver Trainer

Why did you start diving?

I first became interested in diving while watching Sea Hunter and The Under Sea World of Jaques Cousteau.  While raising a family and working, I never had the time to get certified.  One year during a vacation to the Bahamas, I was asked to go scuba diving and took an introductory scuba class, once I got the taste I could not wait to get back in the water, I was hooked!

How long have you been diving?

In 2004 I became a Divemaster.  I dove many Lake Erie wrecks along with diving the Graveyard of the Atlantic. For a bit I dabbled in technical diving and dove on the Roy Jodery in the Saint Lawrence Seaway at 195’.  In February of 2009, I became an assistant instructor and in June of 2009 became an Instructor.  I am currently a Master Scuba Diver Trainer qualified to teach a variety of specialty courses and assist and train the Trumbull County Sheriff's Department.

Where is your favorite place to dive?

Diving has taken me places I never thought I would go and has enabled me to dive with some of the worlds best divers.  When asked what my favorite dive was, with an awful lot of consideration I think it will be my NEXT one!

IDC Staff Instructor

Why did you start diving?

I passionately share my love for the awe-inspiring beauty and wonder of the world beneath the waves. Helping people safely experience the “other” 70% of the Earth we live on inspires me to continue my own underwater explorations. I’ve become a certified gas blender and tri-mix deco diver, enabling me to explore deeper wrecks throughout the great lakes. My favorite wreck, the John B. Lyons, sits nearby in Lake Erie and holds a special place in my heart. It’s the first wreck I ever explored, and any open water certified diver has the skills to check it out. I love taking people to this wreck!

How long have you been diving?

My dive journey began in 1998. Ironically, I didn’t want to learn diving. I took the course with a friend who didn’t want to go alone. Destiny! I fell in love with the underwater ecosystem, learning every advanced and specialty certification I could eventually moving up to Master Scuba Diver. I jumped into the Pro ranks, becoming a Divemaster. I completed my Open Water Scuba Instructor training in 2002. I continued my learning journey becoming a Specialty Instructor, Master Scuba Diver Trainer, and obtaining my current rating of IDC Staff Instructor.

Where is your favorite place to dive?

One of my favorite dive locations is Grand Bahama Island in The Bahamas. Divers explore, and learn, about sensitive coral reefs, majestic dolphins, and magnificent sharks along with thousands of other sea creatures and environments. It’s a place where Open Water certified divers stretch their fins and expand their horizons.

With Treasure Cove Scuba’s help and support, I realized my dream of bringing dive education to the K-12 schools in 2018. We established the Jefferson Aquatic Conservation Club, aka JACC, within the Jefferson Area Local School District in Jefferson, OH. The club is open to everyone. We’ve certified both students and parents not only as divers, but also in Project Aware conservation specialties.

My proudest moments underwater come diving with my kids. They all love diving! My daughter may soon become the next OWSI in the family!

My motto? If you haven’t tried diving, what’s holding you back? Let’s get wet today!
